ATTR | Archive Territory Transformation Rome observes and documents the transformations of landscape in the Roman metropolitan area. The idea was born after Marco Belpoliti published his article titled “Shots of visual memory on vilified urban landscapes” (Il Manifesto, 1993), in which he reviewed the”Archivio dello spazio 2” exhibition based on a selection of images produced for a photographic campaign commissioned by the Milan province. The project, a product of ten years of work (1987-1997), involved the most important contemporary Italian landscape photographers. After reading Belpoliti’s article, I decided to organize a similar project in Rome. I have been working to construct a documentary center of  the terrain transformation,  with a double mission: the careful observation of the landscape and the realization of its photographich shaping, by coming to terms with contemporary photography. Following the drastic reduction of public commissions and the lack of response from cultural institutions, I would like to continue this investigation, incorporating a collective effort of photographers, architects, geographers, artists, urban planners and sociologists interested in the landscape transformations (man-altered landscape).
