Red Desert
The images were developed in a photography workshop, by Guido Guidi with the assistance of Cesare Fabbri, proposed in 2014 by the Accademia di Belle Arti of Ravennain collaboration with the Osservatorio Fotografico.
The research focused on the theme inspired by “Red Desert,” Michelangelo Antonioni’s first color film of 1964, filmed in Ravenna.
Productions associated with the theme were presented with the objective of conducting a survey across “fieldwork” observations. With their work, all participants identified a thematic and geographic itinerary to follow.
The proposition was to move ourselves along an uncertain line that continually establishes linguistic limits, besides our consolidated and reassured representations, with only a methodical foothold to describe the appearance of things and to explore the quality of reality, to give images to the landscapes across a systematic perplexity, “still certain with the necessity to look, but also more unsettled regarding the observed object” (Paolo Costantini).
